RISE-UP Developing Case Studies for a Repository for Resilient Infrastructure and Sustainability Education following a Natural Disaster

To preserve resilience stories and document the infrastructure damage caused by
Hurricanes Irma and Maria and the 2020 earthquakes in Puerto Rico, the timely
collection of evidence is essential. A two-pronged approach strategy was developed,
the first being the collection of data using tools such as case studies and the second a
repository of information intended to keep records, examples, and conclusions of what
was studied. The case studies were developed in an interdisciplinary manner
(Architecture, Engineering and Construction) and answer the research questions
regarding what, how and when the damages occurred, who were the actors involved in
the processes, what were their actions and what are the lessons learned.
