RISE-UP students present their research at the 2021 Mega Viernes Civil Conference

RISE-UP students Luis Lamboy, Luz Bonilla, Sebastian Feliciano and Natalia Marrero
presented their research titled “Historic Buildings Seismic Rehabilitation Using Rubber
Base Isolators: Case Study of the Ponce Massacre Museum, P.R.” at the Mega Viernes
Civil conference held in the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan, PR on July 16, 2021. The goal of their research was to highlight the importance of preserving historical
buildings in Puerto Rico and prevent damages due to seismic activity. During the event,
they discussed the methodology followed for implementing seismic rehabilitation using
rubber base isolators in unreinforced masonry buildings. Dr. Luis Suárez and teaching
assistant Rey Montalvo were their mentors.
