As part of the 2021 RISE-UP summer undergraduate research experience course, students Alejandra Delgado, Gabriel Meléndez, Michael Ortíz, Juan Ponte, and Paula Stoddard, along with their mentor, Dr. Luis Daza, developed a case study titled “The deterioration of natural infrastructure on the coasts of Puerto Rico” using the beach “Caza y Pesca” in Arecibo, PR as their case study . The team generated educational documentation intended to conscientize about the importance of preserving the coast lines along the island and provides recommendations that could help reduce the impact of coastal erosion.
